~PTA Mission Statement
The top reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child, while also supporting your school. However, there are numerous other compelling reasons to become a PTA member:
Get Connected: Stay informed about school events and activities.
Discover Resources: Access a variety of programs for parents and students.
Build a Network: Connect with other parents and teachers to discuss important issues.
Personal Growth: Volunteer your skills and interests to support children and the community.
Advocacy: Use the PTA as a platform to suggest improvements at your child’s school.
See Progress: Contribute to positive changes and improvements in the school environment.
-Role Modeling: Demonstrate to your child the value you place on education.
PTA FAQs
Our PTA's mission is dedicated to realizing every child's potential by actively involving and empowering GBI families and the school community to advocate for all children. We strongly encourage parents to actively participate and voice their opinions in their child's education and within the GBI community. Family input and involvement are crucial aspects of our mission.
There are several ways you can support the PTA!
First and foremost, consider joining us! Your membership helps us tremendously and doesn't require any volunteer time.
If you have spare time, we always welcome volunteers for various events throughout the year. Many hands make light work!
If volunteering isn't possible for you right now, that's perfectly fine! We understand everyone has busy schedules or young children at home. Some parents choose to support us by making a donation, whether financial (click here to donate) or through item donations like snacks for staff appreciation, items for teacher appreciation week, or our end-of-year picnics.
Another way to contribute is by purchasing spirit wear, which not only supports the PTA but also gives you and your student some awesome gear!
Your support in any of these ways helps us continue to enhance the educational experience for all our students. Thank you for being a part of our PTA community!
In the past, PTA has used money from fundraising events to provide GBI with:
New gym equipment, including tether ball equipment and funds to repair other equipment
New vending machine books
Clothes for the clinic
New cutter for the library
Two new picnic tables
Funding to create the Living Classroom
BrainPop & BrainPop Jr.
Books for the reading specialist and all grades
Chair socks for classrooms
708 sets of headsets
Bookmarks for teachers' treasure boxes
Vinyl water bottle stickers for teachers' treasure boxes
We also host multiple free events through the year:
Book Bingo
March Madness
End of Year picnics
Trunk or Treat
These contributions were made possible by the generous support and participation of our school community in fundraising activities. Thank you for helping us enrich the educational experience at GBI!
All PTAs in the United States are nonprofit organizations. This means we do not receive funds from the school, school board, or any other entity. We depend entirely on fundraising, donations, and grants to support everything we provide to the school and community. Your participation in these events, donations, and membership fees directly influences our activities.
Without these funds, we wouldn't be able to offer all the programs and support we provide to our GBI community. Thank you for helping us make a difference!
Every board member is nominated, either by themselves or someone else, for their position. Board members then submit a resume to the Nomination Committee for consideration. At the end of the year, an election is held to select new board members, who are then announced publicly.
Committee Chairs nominate themselves for their roles and are selected by the incoming president.
It's important to note that all PTA board members are volunteers and do not receive any compensation for their work throughout the year.
